How this index is measured

  • What we measureActual vessel arrivals vs. the schedule the carrier itself published, on the trade lanes TrackingMCP tracks. "On time" = arrived within 24 hours of the scheduled arrival.
  • Where the data comes fromTrackingMCP cross-checks every tracked shipment against live AIS vessel positions and published schedules. Each arrival event becomes one observation — no carrier self-reporting, no surveys.
  • Honesty gatesA carrier appears only with 50+ observed arrivals. Figures are observation-weighted across that carrier’s lanes, so one busy lane doesn’t masquerade as a global norm — but coverage still reflects the lanes we track, not every service a carrier runs.
  • FreshnessTrailing-12-month window, refreshed as new arrivals land. Numbers on this page update with each data refresh; the "computed" date below the table is the latest underlying measurement.
