TRACKINGMCPFreight glossary

What is transshipment?

Transshipment is when a container is moved from one vessel to another at an intermediate hub port on the way to its destination, instead of sailing direct. It adds a handling step at the hub and can affect transit time and the predicted ETA.

A transshipment shows up in the tracking timeline as a discharge at the hub followed by a load onto the next vessel.
