What is a UN/LOCODE?

A UN/LOCODE is the United Nations Code for Trade and Transport Locations — a five-character code that identifies a port or place: a two-letter country code plus a three-letter location code. For example, NLRTM is Rotterdam, Netherlands, and USLAX is Los Angeles, United States.

Carrier tracking events reference each port or place by its UN/LOCODE, which keeps locations consistent across carriers.
